ECE Drumming
Grade: ECE
Our youngest learners get their start in music with rhythm. Musical IQ, an award-winning music education provider serving schools across New York City, New Jersey, and Connecticut, leads interactive drumming and world-music sessions for our early childhood classes. Students build listening, focus, and teamwork while discovering rhythms from cultures around the world.

Hip Hop & Dance Mix
Grade: K & 5
Kindergarten and fifth grade students take the floor with Bronx Arts Ensemble, a borough arts organization founded in 1972 that brings teaching artists into schools across the Bronx. Their Hip Hop and Dance Mix residency gives students the chance to learn choreography, build confidence, and perform for their classmates.
Latin Dance
Grade: 1st
First graders learn Latin dance with Calpulli Mexican Dance Company, a New York City nonprofit founded in 2003 that celebrates Mexican and Mexican-American heritage through dance and live music. In their arts-in-education residency, students pick up traditional folkloric steps along with the stories and regions behind them.
Swimming
Grade: 2nd
Second graders learn to swim through Wave Makers, the free learn-to-swim program from Asphalt Green, a New York City nonprofit building community through sports and fitness since 1984. Students get comprehensive instruction in water safety and the confidence to enjoy the water for life, at no cost to families.
Tennis
Grade: 3rd
Third graders head to the courts with the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis and Learning, the South Bronx flagship of New York Junior Tennis and Learning. Its 22-court facility on Crotona Avenue offers year-round instruction, and our students build coordination, sportsmanship, and a sport they can play for life.
Soccer
Grade: 4th
Fourth graders take the field with Soccer Champions Academy, which runs in-school and after-school soccer programs throughout the Bronx and New York City. Coaches meet players at every skill level, and the academy is committed to making quality soccer training accessible to children in the neighborhoods that need it most.
Debate
Our Debate Club gives students a space to build confidence, sharpen critical thinking, and find their voice. Students learn how to research a topic, organize an argument, and speak clearly and persuasively in front of an audience. Through friendly practice debates, they develop active listening skills, learn to respectfully consider opposing viewpoints, and grow more comfortable expressing their own ideas. It's a fun way for students to build the communication and reasoning skills they'll use both in and out of the classroom.
Soap Box Derby
Our Soap Box Derby program brings hands-on STEM learning to life. Students work together to design, build, and race their own soap box cars, applying real-world concepts in engineering, physics, and teamwork along the way. From sketching designs to assembling their vehicles, students learn how to problem-solve, follow safety guidelines, and take pride in a project they built with their own hands. Race day is a highlight of the year, celebrating creativity, collaboration, and friendly competition.
Step team
Our Step Team celebrates rhythm, teamwork, and self-expression. Students learn choreographed step routines that combine percussive movement, clapping, and vocal chants, building coordination, discipline, and confidence along the way. Step is more than a performance art — it teaches students the value of practice, precision, and working together toward a shared goal. Our steppers proudly showcase their routines at school events and community celebrations throughout the year.
drama club
Drama Club gives students the opportunity to explore acting, storytelling, and performance in a supportive, creative environment. Members work on scene study, improvisation, and stage presence while building confidence in public speaking and self-expression. Throughout the year, students collaborate on rehearsals and performances, learning valuable lessons in teamwork, discipline, and creativity — all while having fun bringing stories to life on stage.
MBK
My Brother's Keeper (MBK) is a mentorship program dedicated to supporting the personal, social, and academic growth of our young men. Through mentorship, group discussions, and community-building activities, students develop leadership skills, positive relationships, and a strong sense of purpose. MBK creates a space where students can talk openly, set goals, and build the confidence and character needed to succeed in school and beyond.
Podcasting
Grade: 5th
Fifth graders find their voice with Young ExeKutive, the youth empowerment platform founded by author and motivational speaker Carl Michel. Students learn the craft of podcasting while building the leadership, storytelling, and communication skills that carry them into middle school and beyond.
